Hydroniq Coolers to equip five wellboats

September 10, 2026

10 September 2026 – Ålesund-based Hydroniq Coolers has been selected to supply the marine cooling system for a total of five live fish carriers currently under construction at an undisclosed shipyard for various European wellboat operators.

Rack seawater cooling units

Hydroniq Coolers will deliver its hull-integrated “Rack” seawater cooling system to all five vessels.

The “Rack” seawater cooler is integrated into the hull beneath the vessel’s main engine room, where it reduces the temperature of the main engine and auxiliary systems using seawater, without occupying valuable engine room space. The system can be cleaned and maintained by the crew while the vessel is at sea.

“There is decent newbuilding activity in the wellboat market, and we are benefiting from that. We know that our hull-integrated solution is particularly well suited to vessels carrying heavy loads and operating at low speeds, which is typical for wellboats. In addition, our system is energy efficient, something that both shipyards and vessel owners are increasingly focused on,” says Jan IngeJohannesen, sales manager at Hydroniq Coolers.

Hydroniq Coolers will manufacture and assemble the seawater coolers at its headquarters on Ellingsøy, outside Ålesund, Norway. The company has not disclosed the value of the individual contracts.
